This Week in Philadelphia (TWIP) for 9-28

Some interesting things happening this week, most importantly as I speak on a panel for the Philadelphia Ad Club on social media and on-line networking, along with Ed Callahan and Annie Heckenberger. I've spoken on a panel with Ed before and enjoyed it, and I'm really looking forward to being on the panel with Annie. She's a big proponent of Twitter, and she's fresh back from Blog Orlando where she and some other Philadelphians took EPCOT by storm.

She tweets:

everyone wants to talk about advertising and social media @blogorlando this year. I love it! That's right content producers - let's talk!

Those Old School Ties

This one's kind of fun.

One of the most important things about school is the people you meet there. Todd Cohen and I told a class of Drexel University students that they should keep track of each other after graduation and that they'd be surprised at how wide their network was and how high their college connections would go in 10 or 20 years.

For myself, my college classmates include the Mayor of Philadelphia, the owner of The Philadelphia Inquirer, and the visionary producer behind Wicked and Legally Blonde, none of which I knew in college, so it's a little hard to argue that I should have kept up with them better.

Anyway, the reason I post is that East High School in Denver, Colorado, is inducting a large number of alumni into its Hall of Fame. I was amused by the depth and breadth of the people who went to my high school in the past 130-something years. Here are some of their pictures. See if you can tell who they are:

This Week in Philadelphia (TWIP) for 9-1

Podcamp Philly is this week, on Saturday. I found last year's Podcamp to be a fabulous event for learning, meeting, and reconnecting in the Philadelphia tech space. Judging by the schedule, this year's camp looks to be a great follow-up.

DreamIt Ventures Funding Day is on Thursday. It's been getting a lot of buzz and a lot of attention. The 12-odd companies picked to go through the DreamIt process will be making their final presentations. If you want to know what is what and who is who in the Philadelphia entrepreneurial world, I'd say this is a don't miss event.

Lots of other stuff this week, especially for women.
