This Week in Philadelphia (TWIP) for 2-15

I'm definitely noticing an increase in the number of events that touch on the "how to survive tough times" theme -- whether that is starting your own consultancy, starting a company, getting a job, selling more, or cutting costs. There is definitely a focus to things these days. To be honest with you, I am actually encouraged by this.

Where there is discontinuity, there is opportunity. This is a period of creative destruction -- where new things are being created just as the old is being destroyed. The news is focusing on the destruction. It's up to you to go find the creation.

Networking can help you get out there and find the opportunity that no one else recognizes. Don't wait to hear about it in the news. Find it now by talking to people yourself.

There's also a number of "chasing the Winter blues" events happening, too. Have a luau. There's even a meeting for aspiring pinball wizards. It can't all be gloom and doom.
